Repost from @mom_uptown I want to share with you how I’m explaining Covid-19 to my two year old! At first we got away with saying the playgrounds are closed today, but after a few days, a few bottles of hand sanitizer, Daddy home way too long, she required a proper explanation. We’ve explained that a lot of people are sick right now, so we need to stay home, away from people and playgrounds, to protect ourselves from getting sick too. After lots of questions, and asking to go the busy playroom instead of the playground, it was clear she needed a toddler-friendly explanation. Swipe for our flour exercise. Daddy played a healthy person while I played a sick person. I covered my hands in flour to represent germs that could be left behind when you’re sick. I explained how while you can’t see them, they could be everywhere. I went around the house touching things and transferring flour dust. I had her then touch the floured areas to show the transfer of germs to her hands. She seemed to understand that we don’t go out when we’re sick because we don’t want to spread our germs, and we don’t want to touch things sick people have been touching because of the ability for germs to transfer onto our bodies. So, as time goes by (I explained as I wiped up all the flour) the germs will be gone, and we can play in public spaces again! So, how have you been explaining the situation to your kids?? Happy Friday and stay safe!🖐🏼
